STATE ADVOCACY
The Utah State Legislature meets in a fast-paced 45-day General Session from late January to early March, then continues work through interim committees the rest of the year to study issues and prepare future bills. The Utah Housing Coalition works year-round at the Capitol to advance affordable housing, with Utah state–registered lobbyists who educate legislators about housing needs, challenges, and successes across the state. During the session, we maintain an accessible bill tracker and provide regular updates, supporting positive housing legislation and mobilizing quickly to oppose or improve harmful bills. We act as a strong voice for our members and, most importantly, for low-income Utahns who are in or waiting for affordable homes—because we believe housing is a human right and that every Utahn deserves a safe, stable place to call home.
