We gratefully acknowledge the presence of Senator Bob Bennett. His long experience in Washington DC as one of Utah’s senators and his support of the housing issues gave the attendees an in-depth update on the latest housing federal news. Our keynote speaker, Tony Salazar, and our guest speaker, Linda Couch, brought a new and diverse perspective on how we can achieve our goal: building homes that people can afford!
During our remembrance of the late Senator Ed Mayne, we all felt that continuous work and perseverance pays off when we work together as a community. Senator Karen Mayne inspired the attendances and almost brought to tears the staff of Utah Housing Coalition.

Utah Housing Matters
Utah Housing Coalition’s 12th Annual Conference

A MESSAGE FROM UTAH HOUSING COALITON

STAFF & BOARD MEMBERS

The 2008 “Utah Housing Matters” Conference took place on October 7 & 8 in Park City. Utah Housing Coalition is proud to announce we had many of our members in attendance and presenting workshops, but also new organizations and individuals. Putting the conference together took over six months of hard work from many individuals, including the Utah Housing Coalition’s board members and the volunteer committee who met on a regular basis to make

“Utah Housing Matters” Conference a success.

Over 220 people registered for the October conference! Utah Housing Coalition thanks all of the individuals and organizations who attended the event. Their feedback and input during the two-day conference and participation during the workshops is absolutely valuable to us, as every year we organize and coordinate the conference.

We had 30 workshops scheduled over the course of two days presented by 36 professionals in their field. The well-attended and diverse workshops, such as board development, foreclosure education, and prevention, tax credit modernization, working housing initiative, housing the homeless, or landlord/tenant issue, showed that there is an absolute need in our community to continue to provide the education and share the practical knowledge of the experts in their field.
The conference could not have been a success without the generous donations of our 33 sponsors! The sponsorships proved that Utah Housing Conference does matter! The funds received made the overall conference a reality. We were able to grant 27scholarships based on the funds received. We thank you again!
